Cut list optimizer: from required pieces to a cutting plan

A cut list says what pieces you need. An optimizer decides how to assign those pieces to sheets or stock lengths while accounting for dimensions and kerf.

Choose the right model

Use the Sheet Cutting Optimizer when both width and height matter: plywood, MDF, panels, sheet metal or similar rectangular material. Use the Linear Cutting Optimizer when only length matters: timber, bars, pipes, rods or profiles.

Kerf changes the plan

Every saw or cutting process removes material. If kerf is ignored, a theoretically perfect sum of lengths or widths can become physically impossible. PackMize reserves kerf between cuts according to each engine model.

Sheet rotation

Allowing 90° rotation can reduce sheet count, but grain direction, surface pattern or manufacturing constraints can make rotation invalid. The sheet tool therefore treats rotation as an explicit choice.

Optimization status

PackMize reports PROVEN OPTIMAL only when a valid mathematical bound is reached or an exact search completes. Otherwise it reports BEST SOLUTION FOUND instead of presenting a heuristic result as a proof.

Is this a safety or engineering certification?

No. PackMize provides planning calculations within the stated mathematical model. Operational safety, stability, regulations and equipment constraints must be checked separately.

Can I use my own dimensions?

Yes. The linked PackMize tool accepts standard presets where relevant and custom dimensions for operational planning.

Does PackMize use AI to calculate the result?

No. Core packing and cutting results are produced by deterministic mathematical engines. AI or LLM output is not used to decide the numeric result.
